What chicken is best for takeout recipe?

Chicken breast is the most popular but if you want more flavorful and juicy bites of chicken, go for boneless skinless chicken thighs. Trim the excess fat and cut them into bite-size pieces.

What Asian pantry staples do I need?

Once you start cooking takeout dishes, your collection of ingredients will expand, as you will want to experiment with more flavors (like fish or oyster sauce).
However, I recommend starting simple: soy sauce (the low-sodium kind is better), sesame oil, cornstarch, toasted sesame seeds, brown sugar, ground of fresh ginger, garlic and rice or apple cider vinegar. This will let you create a basic teriyaki sauce for any dish!
If you want more spice, get gochujang or red chili paste.

Can make these recipes without meat?

Absolutely! Skip the chicken, beef or seafood and use mushrooms. They will add the earthy, umami flavor to the mix and you won't even miss the meat. Beans are another great source or protein that can be used in these recipes. Have fun and experiment to make your own versions!
