Looking for seasoning or spice mix with no salt? Try this homemade spicy cajun seasoning recipe! This spice seasoning powder is so easy to make. It's great on pasta, chicken, seafood, vegetables, fries, and more.
What is Cajun Seasoning?
Cajun seasoning spice blend originates from Louisana and it is a very common spice seasoning powder used in Cajun cuisine.
This popular Louisiana cajun seasoning has a smoky, garlicky, and peppery taste.
Today, I am going to show you how to make the best cajun spice recipe from scratch! Use this cajun seasoning to make this CAJUN CHICKEN ALFREDO PASTA, so delicious!
What is Cajun Spice Made Of?
This homemade no-salt seasoning is made with common spices that you probably already have in your pantry.
To make your own homemade cajun spice, you will need the following dry herbs and spices:
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- ground black pepper
- ground white pepper
- ground cayenne pepper
- ground paprika
- dried oregano
- dried thyme
It is no added salt seasoning, so it's great for those of you watching your sodium intake. I personally like it without salt as you can then add it to any recipe and adjust the salt levels later.
However, if you prefer to add salty flavor to the seasoning, feel free to use about 1 - 1½ teaspoons of fine kosher salt into the mixture.
How to Make the Best Cajun or Creole Seasoning:
There is nothing complicated about this seasoning recipe. It's so quick and easy! Simply mix all of the ingredients together until well blended.
In this recipe, I used 1½ teaspoons of cayenne pepper and the spice level is moderately high. For a milder taste, you can cut the amount of cayenne pepper in half, use about ¾ teaspoon.
How to Store Homemade Seasoning:
Always keep spices or seasoning in an airtight container, in a cool and dark place.
In general, ground spices may last 1-2 years maximum, while dried herbs can last up to 3 years. This cajun seasoning contains both dried and ground spices, if properly stored, it should last up to 1 year.

I agree. Homemade seasonings are always so much better than store-bought. In fact, all of my seasonings are homemade. I make a lot of them beforehand and then use whenever I need any. With that said, I am out of cajun seasoning (oh no!), so I can't wait to follow your recipe to make it soon!Reply
